Now why is it that I dislike the US of A?
Hi everybody.
I'm writing because I'm outraged right now. Yes, I am---and I will tell you why. Since emerging from the ovaries of my mother the United States have been the symbol of liberty, even represented by the famous statue in New York.
Now I'm sure you will all agree that for liberty/ freedom there have to be some given conditions, as 1. freedom of expression, 2. freedom of information and press 3. a minimum level of education as important for political and personal self-determination ( which definitely is what discerns us from animals ).
But when you take a closer look on the subject, what is the outcome since July 4th, ?
Point 1 : When sending e-mails to the United States, they systematically block linkings to articles or photos from press outside the country, as friends of mine recently found out ---and you can easily verify it by sending an e-mail yourself if you have any friends there.
Point 2 The U.S. Government has been spending an amount ten times bigger ( about 400 million dollars ) on warfare and the War on Terrorism program than on ecuation ( 45 million ). The data comes directly from the Office of Management and Budegt homepage.
They ( Bush, Cheney) prefer messing with the affairs of other countries ---yes that goes to you NSA and CIA ---instead of assure that their people enjoy an adecuate education.
Ok, I could go on and on about this but I'm afraid my adrenaline level is rising below its limits.
Just needed to blow my stack ( to use the local expression) and tell everyone about how I feel right now. Luckily there are other reasons for liking this country ( even though not as many), just to mention one the poet whose work I published below.
